We only cooperate with Chinese factories which maintain minimum standards for working conditions.
Chinese factory workers —the true architects of the Chinese economic “miracle”— have lately seen how a considerable number of improvements in their working conditions, such as wage increases, employer-provided health insurance, or reduced working hours were introduced in the country. However, it is true there are still many Chinese factories that exploit workers, or even use child labor or mistreat older workers nowadays.
Our deep commitment to the implementation of CSR policies has lead us to include the assessment of the quality of work life of factory workers as part of the internal quality standards IBMH has established for its internal processes. We are committed to treating the employees of the factories we cooperate with fairly. In this sense we have decided not to establish any business relationship with Chinese factories that do not maintain minimum standards for working conditions, thus contributing to the eradication of labor exploitation in the country.
IBMH oversees the quality of work life of the employees of the companies with which we negotiate the best purchase prices for our international customers in order to ensure that a cost reduction for our customers does not imply under any circumstance a deterioration of the working conditions of factory workers. For this reason, when IBMH initiates Sourcing and Procurement programs to obtain the best products and the best purchase price for our customers we make sure that no children, young or elder people are exploited in the process, and that the working conditions of the employees are not degrading; our direct control of the process avoids the existence of exhausting working hours or underpayment.
IBMH is constantly checking the quality of work life of the employees of the factories we cooperate with, avoiding in this way any type of labor exploitation. We ensure that all the factories respect the international labor standards about reasonable working hours. We try to obtain a reduction in the prices through the improvement of the chain of production, the reduction in the prices of raw materials, the technical development of products which allow to reduce manufacturing costs when we are negotiating the best purchase prices. For this reason we can ensure that there are no abusive conditions in the factories we recommend to our international customers.
